A musical journey through the night, including unique transcriptions of compositions by Debussy, Chopin and others. |
Every piece of music of this programme has a connection with, or association to nocturnal life. The titles range from peaceful moments in the moonlight to restless nightmares, culminating in the wish to die - as described in the last piece of the album: Benjamin Britten’s 'Nocturnal after John Dowland'.
The waterlilies on the cover artwork are a reference to the poem 'Promenade Sentimentale' by the French writer Thomas Verlaine. This poem inspired Claude Debussy to compose 'Claire de Lune', originally written for piano and transcribed for guitar by Peter Graneis. The repertoire of this record is altogether a carefully balanced mixture of well-known classics and hardly-known musical gems worth sharing. Tied together by an interdisciplinary artwork of photography, poetry and design and state-of-the-art recording technology. |
